Jodie Patterson is a graduate of a historically black college. She is also the mother of a young transgender boy. And as a parent, she said, she knows what she wants to see from schools.
With their Queer Endeavor initiative, the University of Colorado, Boulder, researchers and NBC Out #Pride30 honorees are bringing LGBTQ issues to classrooms.
Welsh Education Secretary Kirsty Williams, a Liberal Democrat, said: “The days of traditional sex education are long gone; the world has moved on and our curriculum must move with it.”
For too long, the LGBT movement has worked in silos and been driven by external factors governing programming parameters and has been limited due to the lack of social and legal protections for LGBT in country.
